In the early 2000’s I was fresh off the plane from Colorado and hired by Chris Christenson to sweep up, run errands and stay out of the way.
コロラドから移り住んで来た２０００年代の早い時期、クリス・クリステンソンンに雑用と使い走りとして雇ってもらった。
I couldn’t of had a better mentor.
彼以上の師は居なかっただろう。
While Chris never held my hand in the shaping room, what he did teach me was respect.
だけど彼はシェイプに付いては決して教えてくれなかった。彼に教えられたのは”リスペクト”だった。
Not only for craft but to respect the time that he and the people before me had out into the industry that I was one day hoping to be a part of.
”技術”だけではなく、自分がこれから携わっていきたいと思ている業界の先輩や先人の費やして来た”時”というものに対しする尊重が大切なんだ。
In this day and age that respect is slowly disappearing.
今日になって、そういった”リスペクト”はゆっくりと失われつつある。
With the sudden appearance of social media there’s no more dues to be paid.
突然の様に現れたソーシャルメディアによってすっかりなおざりにされている。
But I know for a fact that without Chis and the ethics he taught me I wouldn’t be where I am today
だけど少なくとも俺はクリスと彼の教えてくれた倫理無くして今日の自分が存在していないという事実を理解している。
